DISCUSSION QUERIES

Query:I could see the following impact of global financial crisis over the Nepalese Economy: 1. Rise in Inflation : As Nepal is an import oriented economy, the purchases have to be made in USD. As we all know the cost of dollar rises with the global crisis the cost of imports will rise resulting in the higher rate of Inflation. 2. Decrease in the Grants and Loans: Another important player of the Nepalese economy is the foreign grant and loan. With the rise in the crisis there will definately be the decrease in the foreign grants and loan effecting the economy of the country. 3. Decrease in remittance : Another important source of Nepalese livelihood is through the remittances from the foreign country. As the crisis prolong, the foreign employees will loose their job resulting in the decrease in the remittances.
